Brovia Barolo Villero 2011

Brovia Barolo Villero 750ML 2011
Sku: 37372

One of our top Baroli, the Brovia Barolo "Villero" delivers elegance and power consistently every vintage. We recommend both drinking and collecting this.

Tasting notes
A classic powerful and full-bodied wine from a historical vineyard of Castiglione Falletto. The color is intense ruby red with a light presence of orange reflections. The smell is elegant, intense, pleasant , balanced and with a hint of withered roses, plums, minerals, tobacco, liquorice, smoke and leather. The taste is full bodied, balanced and velvety, with a huge structure and a very long finish.

Rating
The 2011 Barolo Villero exhibits a full body and thick concentration. Ultimately, this is one of my favorite wines from Brovia in this vintage. I love the muscle and heft that the wine shows, and the fact it delivers that power with the utmost elegance. Nothing is heavy or overdone here. You really get a sense of the quality of fruit achieved in the Villero vineyard. The wine shows integrated tannins and impeccable dark fruit balance. Anticipated Maturity: 2017 - 2030 (Wine Advocate Review)

Technical notes
The manual harvest of the grapes takes place at the half of October.

With controlled temperature (about 28°C) for a period of 15 – 20 days.

The ageing takes place in French oak (mid size barrels of 30 Hl.), where the wine is allowed to mature for 2 years. After the ageing, the wine is put in the bottles without any filtration. The refining is carried out in a place at constant temperature and right humidity, protected from sunlight and artificial light.

Food pairing
The traditional combinations are, definitely, with game or red meat dishes. The balance of this Barolo makes it very suitable as a “meditation wine” to savor while eating grissini or small slices of toasted bread.
