The Best's Great Western Sparkling Shiraz pours a deep dark magenta with a glazed ruby hue. A rocky mousse fills the glass then subsides to reveal a lace of fine persistent bubbles. Intense and lifted aromatics of sarsaparilla, black pepper and brambleberries. Secondary notes of fresh bread, tanned leather and fermented meats from maturation in barrel and on lees in bottle. The palate is fresh and vibrant. Intense dark fruit flavors bounce around the fruit tingle finish. The perfect accompaniment to celebrate Christmas.
Best’s Sparkling Shiraz epitomises the regional characteristics with plenty of spice and plummy fruit characters. The base wine is left on yeast lees in bottle for 24 months or more and disgorged in the traditional method. The dosage liqueur for this wine contains a small quantity of very old Best’s Liqueur Muscat that gives the wine an added layer of interest and complements the style.
The sparkling Shiraz style is synonymous with Great Western and has been made in the region since the late 1900s. A beautiful fresh and vibrant palate. Intense dark fruit flavors bounce around the fruit tingle finish. The perfect accompaniment to celebrate Christmas.
