The Brewer-Clifton Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills open with aromas of lemon, kiwi, orange blossom, and sweet basil. The palate reveals notes of jasmine, lime, ginger, mineral followed by textures of peel, orange zest, and fresh sea salt.
With the goal of expressing a comprehensive expression of the appellation, we selected four unique vineyard sites to create this Sta. Rita Hills bottling. This blend is comprised of 3D, Machado, Hapgood and Perilune vineyards. While each lot is handled separately and in a completely uniform fashion in the winery, each contributes vastly different expressions which ultimately harmonize in the finished wine.
Only neutral barrels are employed. Whole cluster pressed Chardonnay. We don’t promote or prohibit malolactic fermentation, allowing wine to be in balance, bright and elegant.
Wet riverstone and lime pith aromas meet with a light dairy element on the nose of this bottling. The palate is very grippy in texture, framing apricot and nectarine flavors that lead into a citrus pith finish. -M.K.
An impressive overview of the region, the 2023 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills offers a quintessential, refined and precise expression of the house style. It showcases a more polished, slightly honeyed side of Brewer-Clifton, concluding with a harmonious, succulent finish that lingers with the region's signature saline-laced minerality.
