The Castellare di Castellina Chianti Classico Riserva Il Poggiale appears a vibrant and lively ruby color in the glass. The nose displays typical violet flowers and cherry fruit scents and a mineral note. Opens immediately to the palate with freshness and flavor dominating the middle part of the tasting, while the pleasant finish offers fragrant fruity notes.

Recommended to pair with grilled meat dishes such as Chianina steaks, or with game, and interesting with aged cheeses.

Castellare di Castellina, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, covers a total of 80 hectares - including 20 occupied by olive groves. The vineyards occupy 33 hectares on the hillsides of a natural south-east facing amphitheatre, at an average height of 370 meters above sea level. The vines are aged between 7 and over 45 years, and yields per hectare are kept very low to obtain the maximum quality. No synthetic chemicals are used in the Castellare vineyards, out of respect for nature and to enable the production of organic wines. This philosophy is reflected by the labels, which every year carry a drawing of a different bird found to be increasingly rare due to the indiscriminate use of poisons and herbicides in vineyards.

The Chianti Classico cru, Reserve obtained from a single vineyard and which received the highest scores for its elegance and typical characteristics. A wine that showcases the enormous potential of the Sangioveto grape.

90% Sangioveto, 5% Canaiolo, 5% Ciliegiolo aged in in 20% new barriques for 12 to 18 months followed by 12 months in bottle.
