The nose reveals aromas of cherries, blackberries and raspberries, along with spicy notes.
On the palate, the wine is round, soft and silky. Its deep richness, matched with a nice freshness and a long and mellow finish, make it already a great Château Fombrauge, with a long ageing potential.
This rich wine comes from a parcel totally separate from Fombrauge, but under the same ownership. It is dense, with firm tannins and ripe black-plum and berry fruits. The whole ensemble will form a powerful wine as it matures. -R.V.
There’s a very rich and powerful core of red-plum and mulberry aromas and flavors here, delivering an assertive and very shimmery, polished palate. Great tannin texture. Long and regal. Every bit as good as the 2015, but more lively in 2016. Try from 2023.
Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Fombrauge sings of lively kirsch, baked black cherries and warm plums notes plus touches of potpourri, cigar box and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with decadent red and black fruit preserves, structured by velvety tannins and finishing with fantastic length. Drink 2020-2031.
