The wine is a delicacy. It offers a dense and silky tannic structure, fruity and floral aromas (wild strawberry, raspberry, rose), woody notes (licorice, cocoa bean, vanilla) and minerality.
Château Taillefer 2019 will go well with our south-western specialties, a beautiful entrecote or a grilled duck breast. It can also be enjoyed with well-ripened or strong-tasting cheeses.
88% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc aged for 12 months with 40 % of new barrels of french oak.
Located on the plateau of Pomerol, Château Taillefer is named after a specificity of the appellation, the iron oxides. The elders recount that the plow “carves iron" (“taille le fer” in french) given the amount lifted in this vineyard.
90–92. Barrel Sample. A ripe, softly textured wine showing plenty of ripe Merlot, the structure is already integrated into the juicy, full black fruits. It is warm, ripe and ready for medium-term aging. R.V.
An attractive, nicely made wine, the 2019 Taillefer reveals aromas of sweet berries, rose petals and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively palate framed by powdery tannins that gently assert themselves on the finish. Anticipated Maturity: 2023-2040
