The Chateau la Tour de l'Eveque Petale de Rose appears a pale salmon pink color in the glass. Nose is airy and seducing with floral notes of jasmine and fresh vine peach, combined with some citrus hints such as candied pomelo on a creamy, strawberry background. Zesty with a spicy twist. The palate is large, weighty, and smooth, with balanced acidity. It shows satiny pulp with peppery spiciness. The structure holds on zesty phenolics and balances this textural palate, the lengthy finish comes with lovely concentration.
Enjoy with marinated tuna with orange, fennel, and Sichuan pepper.
49 % Grenache, 36% Cinsault, 9% Mourvèdre, 3% Rolle, 3% Sémillon
The grapes are lightly pressed so as to obtain optimum delicacy and flavor from the very heart of the grapes. Wines ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel, gravity-fed cuves. The Pétale de Rose is exclusively made of 1st quality juices. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is bottled at the Châteaula Tour de l’Evêque.
The Pétale de Rose was created in 1985 by Régine Sumeire and is considered as the firstly created Provence rosé with pale color. Régine Sumeire had the idea to vinify red Grenache by pressing in whole-bunch grapes using hydraulic Coquard press from Champagne in order to press very delicately with minimum color extraction. The resulting juice came with an unusual pale color for that time. The taste was extremely fine and elegant. This invention launched the trend for premium pale rosé wine back in the 80’s.
