Classic Sancerre from Bué with bright grapefruit, grassy, and gooseberry notes. Stony and flinty, this wine is just beautiful with the local cheese, Crottin de Chavignol.
Located in Bué, near Sancerre, the Domaine la Grande Maison has existed for 5 generations.
In 1983, the estate specialized in the production and marketing of wines when Pierre Chaumeau and his son Jean Pierre Chaumeau created the winery. They named the estate by association of the birth names of Jean-Pierre's parents, Chaumeau and Balland.
Their children Alex and Anaïs work the terroir and the wines alongside Sylvie on an area of 14ha of planted vines, in order to produce Sancerre Blanc, Rouge and Rosé. The estate has 11ha planted with the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety and 3ha with the Pinot Noir grape variety.
The main soils on which the vines are planted are the caillottes / grillottes, the marls and the flints in no less than 6 different communes. These soils and exposures shape the character expression of the estate's wines. Sometimes mineral, white flowers or citrus for white wines.
