The wine opens with inviting aromas of ripe black cherry and Santa Rosa plum, intertwined with subtle, warming spices that evoke a sense of comfort. A lively, bright entry flows seamlessly into a well-balanced mid-palate, where vibrant cherry tart and succulent plum notes take center stage. The wine’s harmonious structure persists across the entire palate, culminating in a mouthwatering finish accented by delicate hints of lingering milk chocolate shavings.

Giuseppe & Luisa vineyard was planted with cuttings from Jackass Hill Zinfandel in the 1990s. It was named after Lee Martinelli Sr.’s grandparents, Giuseppe and Luisa Martinelli, who started our first winery in the 1880s when they immigrated from Tuscany, Italy. We wanted to pay homage to their determination to follow their dreams at just 19 and 16 years of age in coming to the New World, so we created this vineyard from cuttings from the original vineyard Giuseppe planted, Jackass Hill. We restored and are using their original label on our current wines from this vineyard as a thank you for starting our family’s legacy so long ago.

The 2022 Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa has pure, layered scents of red cherries, green olives, autumn leaves, white pepper and potpourri. The medium-bodied palate is plush and juicy with nuanced flavors and a long, spicy finish. It’s delicious straight from the bottle. 1,426 cases produced. Anticipated Maturity: 2024-2034
