The Molino del Piano Brunello di Montalcino appears an intense bright red color in the glass tending to garnet with aging. The nose is intense, clean, characterized by spicy notes reminiscent of berries jam and pleasant shades of vanilla. A buttery scent inebriates the nose. Majestic on the palate, with a round and velvety body. The tannic plot is dense and enveloping, excellent persistence.
Ideal with structured meat dishes, game and aged cheeses.
The savory nose features top soil, mixed herbs, pepper, tar and blackberries. On the palate, black plums underscore that blackberry note, but the overall feel remains earthy and peppery. Firm, grippy tannins keep lively acid in check. -D.C.
There's bright clarity in the glass with aromas of dried flowers, violets in particular, with earthy and chalky minerality. Medium body with graceful tannins, moderate to refreshing acidity and a chalkier finish with good length. Drink or hold.
