Fragrant fruity and floral notes anticipate a full and elegant mouth. Elegance, minerality, and excellent persistence on the palate.
Pietradolce Etna Rosso is a wine obtained only from Nerello Mascalese grapes, grown between 700 and 800 meters above sea level on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, in Solicchiata. The soils are sandy-loam, with abundant volcanic rock. The manual harvest takes place during the first half of October. The vinification involves, after crushing and destemming, a maceration of approximately 18 days, followed by three months in oak barrels.
Grapefruit, fresh cranberries and mineral on the nose. Fresh and almost tangy on the palate with zesty citrus and a firm backbone of tannins. Nicely grippy and structured.
The predominantly cool, fresh and earthy nose also features astringent, subtly warm aromas of tea leaves, hibiscus, plums, cranberries and orange peels. On the palate, those sour fruit notes are accentuated by almost metallic overtones of citrus and pepper. Acid fizzes in the background. -D.C.
