Stefano Accordini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva "il Fornetto" appears a very deep ruby red color in the glass. The nose reveals a broad bouquet with notes of cherry, dried fruits, vanilla, and a clear hint of black pepper and liquorice. The taste is full, with an exceptional strength but incredible elegance.

A meditative wine to be paired with 90% dark chocolate, game, or aged cheese, in keeping with tradition.

Stefano Accordini Description

Our best Amarone della Valpolicella is “Il Fornetto”. This aromatic and tasteful red wine is produced in limited quantity and has a strong and extraordinary vigor. Thanks to its flavored structure, it can age up to twenty years.

The grapes are selected and placed in 6 kg trunks to rest in our fruit-room to rest for a period. During the drying period, a sequence of biochemical processes carried out by microorganism like Botritis Nobile, transform part of the sugar into glycerine.

After crushing the grapes, the maceration and fermentation processes, let the Amarone be a very structured and incredibly rich in aromas wine. 4 years of ageing in oak barrels follows, where it completes its malolactic fermentation.

Wine Advocate: 93 Points

This wine is packaged in a very heavy, ecologically unfriendly bottle with a pretty wax capsule. The Stefano Accordini 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Il Fornetto is a bold and almost exaggerated expression that weaves together hot-vintage fruit and generous oak aging (it sees 48 months in barrique). The Riserva sits heavily on the palate with blackberry confit, cherry liqueur, balsam herb, cola, grilled rosemary, toasted oak and campfire ash. The wine is the proverbial too-much-of-a-good-thing that might only be paired with aged Stilton cheese or game stew. Do not underestimate the power of this ultra bold Amarone, with its thick layers of sweet and savory flavors. This blend of 55% Corvina, 35% Corvinone and 10% Rondinella (that sees 120 days of appassimento) closes with 16.5% alcohol. Production is a mere 3,000 bottles. Anticipated Maturity: 2021-2035
