A full-bodied wine of intense red fruit flavor and elegantly supple texture supported by ripe, silky tannins. The Merlot in the blend is expressed in sweet black fruit with overall aromas of ripe, concentrated berries offset by restrained spicy oak notes.
Pair with meat sauce pastas and roasted meats.
Guidalberto's name comes from Guidalberto della Gherasdesca, Nicolo Incisa della Rochetta great great great grandfather. He lived in the early nineteenth century in Bolgheri and was a pioneer of modern agriculture, and is famous for having planted the cypress alley that inspired the poet Giosuè Carducci. Guidalberto is from the producers of the legendary Sassicaia. Grapes are harvested and transported to an independent cellar. Fermentation takes place separately for each variety in temperature-controlled steel vats before undergoing maceration.
50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot. Upon completion of the malolactic fermentation, the wine was placed in French oak barriques and 20% of American oak barriques, for a period of 15 months. Subsequent fining for 3 months in glass before release.
The 2020 Guidalberto is taut and tight with plenty of tart cherry and wild berry. The wine offers great freshness and tension with bay leaf, spice, wild cherry and pressed lavender buds. There is a hint of black olive too. The blend is equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Anticipated Maturity: 2022-2030
