The first sip of La Gitana Triana PX is a revelation. The sherry delivers a luxuriously smooth and viscous texture, coating the palate with its concentrated sweetness. A wave of flavours washes over the tongue, dominated by notes of raisins, prunes, and dates. Hints of honey, molasses, and brown sugar add further richness, while a touch of citrus acidity provides a welcome balance. The oak ageing subtly emerges on the finish, offering hints of cocoa and coffee alongside a lingering sweetness.
Triana is named after the iconic neighborhood of Seville where Flamenco was born.
Made using Pedro Ximenez grapes from Montilla Moriles (from the same source the Hidalgo family has worked with for over 50 years). The grapes are picked and dried on straw mats, before being selected further, fermented and fortified, then aged in solera for 12 years. Aromas of dry figs, raisins, toffee and nuts. The dense, thick palate is balanced by fine acidity. An unforgettable texture, with beautiful concentration and long, rich finish. 250-300 g/L RS. Ferments naturally to 9% ABV before being fortified to 15% alcohol.
