The Riva Manzanilla Fina Miraflores Baja is an intense manzanilla with citrus and nut aromas on the nose and notes of chalk and hydrocarbons. On the palate it has hints of anise and basil accompanied by a characteristic salinity, with a subtle and fresh mid-palate.
The La Riva Manzanilla is made from Palomino sourced mostly from the Casilla Verde family estate situated 7km from the sea, plus a few adjacent parcels. Grapes are hand-harvested in mid-September, fermented in steel tank on the lees and then biologically aged under flor for an average of 3.5 years in a traditional 1/12 solera system. A once-annual saca typically yields about 1500 bottles with an alcohol level of 15% after fortification.
Here they are looking for more reductive character and more sea, a salty character. It makes you salivate with the intense salinity. This is more closed, an austere white wine with little influence from the flor. It finishes with a bitter twist and very pungent, persistent flavors. This comes from Miraflores Baja, from the Casilla Verde vineyard. This is an amazing value for money. Oceanic austerity. 2,500 bottles produced. Drink 2024-2030
