Amber with dark gold highlights, full ripe and sweet, with finely peated with aromas of orange marmalade, honey, coffee, sherry and nuttiness. The finish is fresh with a long lasting smoky maltiness.
Glenfarclas is one of the only truly independent old school Scotch distilleries still producing a truly old school whisky. Family run by the Grant family since 1865, the sixth generation is now at the helm, running things much the same way as it always has been. Producing just a small fraction of what many of their big Speyside neighbors do, they use only traditional direct fire distillation and age full term in ex-Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks, which lends all their whiskies a distinctive burnt caramel character along with classic sherried notes of sharp spice, nutty richness, Christmas cake, and dried fruits.
