A superb red wine already considered legendary. Deep with tremendous intensity, goes hand in hand with a brilliant wood aging where at no point the balsamic and minerals remove the fruity notes.
That sensation of the lasting flavor which lingers in the mouth long after the wine leaves the palate and then settles in memory is a particular virtue of El Nido wines. In the highlands of Jumilla, they demonstrate their strength from the vineyard. Their roots pierce the stony soils, penetrate the coarse, limestone layer and touch the sandy strip.
These tenacious vines, planted on slopes and receive little rain, have achieved the strength to deal with nature in the tense balance for survival. Their tireless desire to produce intense and impetuous grapes, is enhanced over time.
The 2022 Clio was produced with 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon that fermented in stainless steel with neutral yeasts and matured in new French and American oak barrels for 23 months. Despite the oak used, the wine is not that oaky; it's spicy and smoky with notes of ripe berries and aromatic herbs. It's full-bodied, with 15% alcohol, a pH of 3.62 and 5.7 grams of acidity, keeping three grams of residual sugar. It's ripe and lush, with abundant, fine-grained tannins. 46,5000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2024. Anticipated Maturity: 2025-2035
