The Castelli Martinozzi Brunello di Montalcino appears a ruby red color closer to pomegranate and after some years in bottle acquires a tint of amber. A complex, intensive and elegant bouquet with the scent of undergrowth and predominance of violet and musk fill the nose. The palate reveals blackberry and dried cherries tones, dry but not much with polished tannins. Lively, harmonious and lingering.
A perfect complement to red game meat, roasted or barbecued, and to the well-seasoned first course in accordance with Italian tradition. It's a perfect complement to cheeses with a strong taste (pecorino, parmigiano reggiano, cheeses of alpine meadows etc).
The Castelli Martinozzi estate is located ten kilometers from Montalcino, in a dominant position overlooking the Orcia Valley and the hills that mark the western border of the Tuscan Maremma. It extends over 160 hectares, comprising 14 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, woodlands, and arable land, at an optimal altitude of
400 to 480 meters above sea level.
100% Sangiovese aged for a minimum 36 months in French oak barrels.
The nose is an explosion of flowers and spices, with aromas of mandarin blossom, clove, cumin and black cherry cola, while the palate has the piercing sweetness of ripe cherries, blackberries, milk chocolate and orange peel. Notable acid adds still more vibrancy. -D.C.
