Straw-yellow color with golden tints. On the first nose subtle notes of vanilla and grilled notes appear. After twirling, more complex notes of smoke and very ripe fruits are revealed. In mouth the structure of the wine is remarkable. It is rich, unctuous, silky and offers loads of aromas such as yellow fruits (apricot, pineapple…) and mild spices like vanilla and cinnamon. A real treat for taste buds. The long final goes on with hints of praline and toffee. Divine!
84% Sémillon, 12% Sauvignon, 4% Muscadelle
Château La Tour Blanche 2011 is less opulent compare to 2009 or 2010, thanks to a control of the sugar concentration when harvesting, and shows a beautiful aromatic expression, lots of freshness and a superb balance.
Dense and concentrated, this wine is still balancing the fruit, the structure and the sweetness. Acidity shoots through the dry core, bringing with it lemon zest and pineapple flavors. It has great potential, full in the mouth and ripe at the end. Drink from 2020. -R.V.
Tasted blind at the Sauternes 2011 horizontal tasting. The Château La Tour Blanche 2011 has a more reticent bouquet compared to its peers: traces of wild honey, Clementine, hints of petrol and tree sap coming through reluctantly with aeration but never attaining what you might call “full power," possibly due to hail damage during the growing season. The palate is medium-bodied, a little understated like the nose, with well-judged acidity and a tightly wound finish adorned with dried honey, mandarin and a touch of barley-sugar. The aftertaste is quite long, suggesting that it will contentedly repay 4-5 more years in the cellar. Anticipated Maturity: 2017-2045
