Symphonie de Haut-Peyraguey is produced from vines of the First Grand Cru Classe in 1855 Clos Haut-Peyraguey. Soils are typical of the Sauternes area: variable proportions of sand, gravel and clay. The grape varities are 95% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Blanc. THe wine reveal beautiful aromas enhanced by plenty of freshness. The wine meets the same requirements as its elder brother Clos Haut-Peyraguey.
This wine is ripe and offers plenty of dry botrytis to give density and longevity. With 95% Sémillon, the apricot, orange and crisp acidity are coming together well. Full but not cloying, it will be delicious from 2021. -R.V.
The 2015 Symphonie de Haut-Peyraguey, the château's second wine, is lifted and weightless in the glass, with an airy expression of sweet floral and botrytised notes. Gentle and moderately sweet, the Symphonie will hold considerable appeal for readers who find some of the top Sauternes too sweet or rich. Lightly honeyed notes, baked apple and vanillin add the closing shades of nuance. This is very pretty and nicely done. The Symphonie is 95% Sémillon and 5% Sauvignon. Tasted two times.
