Brooding crimson in complexion flanked by a ruby band, the wine is transportational in the nose with telltale mineral notes and signature aromatics. Earth laden fruits, sweet oak, cassis and garrigue perfume and command further examination. Hauntingly dark and dense upon entry, flavors of currant, ripe plum, boysenberry, sarsaparilla and black cherry dominate. Concurrently, an elegant juxtaposition of florals, anise and orange peel deliver equal voice. Soft tannins compliment the intensity with a silky mouthfeel while uplifted with a refreshing backbone of saline acidity that lingers indefinitely.
Grapes are sourced from the wineryʼs 300 estate-owned acres in the Côtes Catalanes growing region, a sub-appellation of the Roussillon. Vines range in age from 10 to 65+ years.
Aged in 30% new French oak for 18 months followed by 5 months in bottle before release.
