This is a rather rich and masculine wine, with notes of dark fruit and spice that give way to a lovely freshness and a long, slightly chalky finish. While quite appealing in its youth, this wine will reveal its full potential after extended aging in the cellar.
Our plot is located in the center of the slope above the village of Chambolle-Musigny; the white-looking soil rests on pure silt, and the ground is stony and very calcareous.
100% Pinot Noir with vines averaging 70+ years of age. Strict selection of the grapes, partially destemmed, alcoholic fermentation with exclusively indigenous yeasts, very moderate pump-overs and punch-downs. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels: 80% new barrels, 20% one-year-old barrels.
The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is beautifully pure and complete, unfurling in the glass with notes of red berries and cherries mingled with hints of rose petal, smoked tea and spices. Full-bodied, deep and seamless, with a multidimensional core of cool, vibrant fruit, it concludes with a long, saline finish.
This is also exuberantly spicy with its slightly riper liqueur-like red berry fruit, floral and softer earth influences. The racy, concentrated and muscular broad-shouldered flavors possess impressive mid-palate density as well as excellent power and length on the very firm but impeccably well-balanced finale. If you can find it, buy it and forget it. Drink: 2037+
