The Domaine Jacques Prieur Musigny Grand Cru appears an intense ruby red color in the glass. The nose is very complex with floral, rose petals, violets, sweet spices, tobacco, and leather notes. The palate reveals a satiny texture, purity and precision. Elegant, savory fruitiness. Infinite length. Magnificent sapidity. Fine, silky tannins.
100% Pinot Noir on a 0.76 hectare plot. This is one of the greatest terroirs in the Côte de Nuits. The vineyard is located on a fault overlooking the Clos Vougeot and bordering on the Combe d'Orveau. Le Musigny has south-east facing sun exposure and a unique, sunny microclimate.
The grapes were handpicked into small crates, then sorted and totally destemmed. The wine stayed on the skins for 20 days in temperature-controlled open oak vats. 100% malolactic fermentation The wine was aged entirely in oak barrels for 19 months.
A wonderfully fresh and super-spicy nose freely reveals its aromas of violet, Asian-style spice, exotic tea, orange peel, sandalwood and a mix of both red and dark berries. There is excellent volume to the dense and intensely mineral-driven medium weight plus flavors that culminate in a superbly long and impeccably well-balanced finish where a touch of wood surfaces. This is clearly the class of the class in 2022 and could well be genuinely great in time. Don't miss! Drink: 2034+
