Domaine Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Champgains appears a golden lemon color in the glass. Aromas of white blossoms, pear, resin and a touch of matchstick character. On the palate, ripe juicy yellow pear and apples intertwine with minerality.
Grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks and near the end of fermentation, the wine is transferred to small oak barrels to ferment dry and complete malolactic fermentation during barrel aging. Batônnage is used sparingly as the wines of Chassagne are already rich.
All wines are aged eight to nine months in 20 –30 percent new oak.
