100% Pinot Noir sourced from 0.10 hectares of 75 year-old vines. 100% destemmed, sorted, 3-week ambient yeast fermentation in stainless steel with daily punch-downs and pump-overs after the 1st week, pressed pneumatically, aged on the lees without racking for 18 months in 228 L barrels (50% new), SO2 added before fermentation and after malolactic conversion, no fining or filtration, bottled by gravity.
Generous wood fights somewhat with the overtly spicy mix of both red and dark pinot fruit that is nuanced by hints of exotic tea. There is acceptable concentration to the silky and refined flavors that are supported by admirably fine-grained tannins while exhibiting fine length on the more complex and equally persistent finish. This is firm but not especially austere and could be approached after only 4 to 5 years. Drink: 2033+
