The Saints Hills Dingac Plavac Mali appears an intensive ruby red color with purple nuances in the glass. The nose is dominated by cherry aromas followed by those of blackberry and blueberry. Well balanced start reveals a warm and full bodied wine of a pleasant acidity. Dingač is dominated by elements of chocolate and ripe fruit, and some nutty elements in the background. Rich in mediterranean spices such as oregano, basil and some mint. Full-bodied, rounded, silky tannins, the palate is dominated by plums, dark chocolate, carob, and cookie aromas, followed by smokey scents of tobacco. Very long-lasting spicy finish.
Dingač is our Plavac Mali from the best wine-growing area in Croatia, our pride, Sv. Lucia Dingač. This vineyard is rich in everything that this variety is good for: sun, calcareous soil full of quartz, mineral soil and good winds. The Plavac that grows here has specific pronounced aromas of prunes, cherries and secondary aromas of tobacco and dark chocolate. Extremely rich and fragrant, it remains drinkable and mild on the palate. It is aged for 24 months in new French oak barriqua barrels, and after 3 years in the cellar it sees the light of day.
Deep garnet in the glass, this wine has a nose of cassis, dried thyme and smoke. It is pleasantly minty, with flavors of eucalyptus, clove, blackberry, cherry and sage. Silky tannins make way for a floral-scented finish. -M.D.
