Gra'it is distilled from a blend of the 7 finest Italian grape pomaces: Barolo, Moscato D’Asti, Amarone, Prosecco, Brunello, Aglianico and Nero D’Avola. This innovative product takes grappa one step forward while maintaining a strong family heritage and traditions.
The combination of the grape pomaces and the unique distillation process make Gra’it an exquisite fusion of taste, smoothness and character. Gra’it is 100% natural and gluten free: there are no natural or artificially added flavors/extracts to the grappa. It owes its straw-yellow color to the aging in Slavonian oak casks for twelve months.
According to ancient legend, “grappa” is derived from the word “graspo” meaning ”grape bunch” in Veneto dialect.
Italy has been under the spell of grappa since the middle ages but it was only at the very beginning of the 17th century that the Venetian Senate established the so-called “Corporazione degli Aquaviteri” – the Distiller’s Corporation – and set the laws and standards for distillation in the Republic of Venice.
For generations, Italians have savoured grappa at the end of a meal as a digestive, served it with their espresso (the famous “caffè corretto”) or more recently, used it as a base for their cocktails and aperitifs.
Look for a faint straw tinge and citrusy, zesty scent. The palate is minerally and light. Toasted almond sweetness and faint golden raisin meld in the gentle finish. -K.N.
