Condrieu “Chéry”, with its golden yellow color, balances elegance with strength. Its strong nature comes from the exceptional exposure of the hillside and the age of the vine stocks. Its bouquet of citrus fruits, violet and peach-apricot flavors gives it a rich and full “bouche”.

It is recommended to decant this wine before serving: the wine will then express all of its character more quickly. Its goes perfectly well with foie gras, a plump fattened chicken with cream or with seafood such as lobster and prawns.

Andre Perret Description

100% Viognier. 1/3 of the production takes place in stainless steel vats, and 2/3 in wooden vats. Aged for 12 months (regular stirring of the lees followed by racking). The wine is then preserved on its lees for one year before being bottled.

The legend began at the time of the Roman Empire. Due to the growth of the number of vineyards in Gaule and a general overproduction in the Roman Empire, it was decided that half of Gaule’s vine stocks must be removed. However, the Emperor Probus demanded that a single hillside must be preserved, his “Cherished” hillside, overlooking the Rhone Valley, producing an extraordinary wine. Since this time, vine stocks have continued to prosper on this hillside and nowadays the legend lives on as Condrieu “Chéry” is one of the 100 Legendary Wines listed in the Solar guide by the leading sommeliers from the Taillevent wine cellars in Paris.

Wine Advocate: 96 Points

Perret's emblematic cuvée, the 2022 Condrieu Chery, is purer and more ethereal than Clos Chanson due to its granite and sandy soils. Evoking aromas of pear, menthol, white peach, flowers and delicate notes of spices, it's full-bodied, satiny and enveloping with a multidimensional but weightless core of fruit, racy acids and a long, precise and intensely mineral, saline and vibrant finish. Currently structured and reserved, its evolution in the bottle promises to be compelling. This is a must-have for aficionados of profound, precise and pure Rhône Valley whites. Anticipated Maturity: 2024-2050
