Le Clos de Solutré is a 4.3 hectares plot located in the village of Solutré-Pouilly and classified 1er Cru since the 2020 vintage. It is one of the smallest Premiers Crus. South East exposure with an average altitude of 310m. high. Steep brown limestone soils, very stony. The vines are 50 years old on average.
The grapes were manually harvested and directly pressed. Static clarification took place at at 53°F over 24 hours. Clear juices were then separated for alcoholic fermentation which took place with indigenous yeasts. Turbidity is strictly adjusted for a long ageing period. The wine was aged on the lees for 16 months. 80% of fermentation took place in in stainless steel tank and 20% in new traditional French oak barrel.
This wine is generous on the nose, with vibrant Meyer lemon, ripe white peach, and yuzu aromas. Medium bodied and lifted by bright acidity, flavors appear quite focused on the palate. Notes of green pear, white peach, and chamomile unfold, finishing with firm limestone minerality adding complexity. Approachable now and quite delicious. -A.C.C.
