At first glance, the Perrières represent the typical Corton, which has been described extensively: austere, slow to mature, tannic. This impression needs to be qualified, as the wine seems to have multiple facets: straightforward, certainly, but with an underlying, dense structure and a finish marked by minerality. There is no heaviness, which facilitates the expression of complexity. Long aging is certainly beneficial.

Domaine Meo-Camuzet Description

100% Pinot Noirs with fairly large grapes but low yields, planted in 53-54. A beautiful plot of about two-thirds of a hectare, just north of the village of Aloxe. "Perrières" means "stones" and you can immediately understand why when you look at the soil: it is dotted with numerous round pebbles, often pink in color. The soil is quite deep but retains the same structure as on the surface, which is covered in pebbles. The exposure is typical of red corton, due east, and the plot is located rather in the lower part of the slope.

Wine Advocate: 92-94 Points

The 2018 Corton Grand Cru Les Perrières is also a beautiful wine in the making, offering up notes of sweet red berries, cherries, rose petals and espresso roast that's still youthfully primary. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, chalky and incisive, with terrific concentration, fine tannins and a beautifully defined finish. This, too, will require time, but it's less blocky and muscular than the En Rognet.

Burghound: 89-92 Points

A moderately toasty nose combines notes of poached plum with those of earth, violet and a wisp of gaminess. There is both good volume and density to the bigger and richer if less energetic medium weight plus-sized flavors that terminate in a lingering finish where the supporting tannins coat the palate. Drink: 2033+
