The Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Fixin offers good, deep color, and is much more rustic and earthy than the Savigny-les-Beaune, more Nuits than Beaune. It has more body and oaky, silky black fruit, which is raisined and ripe, with tobacco and a leafy, vegetal component and a little bit of tannin. A very nice wine for its appellation.
100% Pinot Noir sourced from 40 year-old vines. Matured in 5-10% new oak barrels.
Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret covers a total area of more than 75 acres, split among 35 appellations. The varied range of climats in which the Mongeards own vineyards results, naturally, in wines of great diversity.
