The M. Chapoutier Hermitage Monier de la Sizeranne appears a deep garnet red color with purplish lights in the glass. The nose reveals red fruit (rapberry, blackcurrant), with a hint of liquorice followed by a palate with a good attack, round and elegant wine with concentrated and gentle tannins. The final is on blackcurrant, raspberry and spicy (pepper) aromas when it is young.

Enjoy with venison fillet in red wine sauce. Beef rosted. Mature "Saint Félicien" cheese.

Our Hermitage “Monier de la Sizeranne” comes from a blending of different soils from West to East: • “les Bessards”: from a granitic origin, it constitutes the “soul” of a good Hermitage. • “le Méal”: old alluvial terraces, with a lot of gravels and shingles more or less calcareous. • “les Greffieux”: silty soil with shingles.

18 months ageing, 85% of which takes place in oak barrels, giving the wine its notes of oak. The remaining 15% is aged in concrete tanks to preserve minerality and freshness.

Initially closed and earthen, this classic Hermitage takes a bit of time and patience to open. Past the layers of smoke and granite, it reveals a core of intensely ripe, pure blackberry and cherry flavors. An intensely mineral, tightly tannic wine now, it should gain perfume and depth well through 2035 and hold much further. Cellar Selection -A.L.C.I
 

Full-bodied and rich while at the same time silky smooth, the 2016 Hermitage Monier de la Sizeranne is a fine effort that needs only a couple of years in the cellar. Pencil shavings and crushed stones frame cassis and black olive flavors, turning to charcoal notes on the long, softly dusty finish. Anticipated Maturity: 2020-2035
