Thibaut Henrion Description

Winegrowers and millers since several generations, the Taillée family owe their name to the wine profession ("taillée" = pruned). In 1970 Gabriel Taillée’s father decided to specialize in wine making, putting aside cereal grains for economic reasons. Gabriel took care of the vineyard until 2013 and since the 1st of January, 2014, Thibaut Henrion took over the vineyard. Situated south of Anjou, on the border between the Saumur and Côteaux du Layon vineyards, le Logis de Bray lies on clayey, silty and sandy soils that give fruity, elegant, fine wines. This vineyard is situated in the village of Saint Macaire des Bois and lies on a fault between the Parisian basin, which is mostly chalky-clay (Saumur area), and the Armorican basin, which is mostly granite. Those soils are perfect for all traditional varietals cultivated at the domaine. The estate is made up of traditional varieties: Cabernet (60%), Chenin (30%) and Chardonnay (10%).

Thibaut Henrion leads his vineyard in sustainable farming. He is part of the Terra Vitis association with the goal to follow eco-friendly, sustainable and integrated viticulture. Intervention is limited, and 75% of the vineyard is over 20 years old. For younger vines, Thibaut chooses moderately vigorous rootstocks (Rupestris X Riparia) and Cabernet Franc, Chenin and Chardonnay grafts because they have lower yields.
